Musical brain training!
According to some people, being musical can thicken your synapses, making the brain work faster. Whether that's true or not, Mozart Brain is designed to give you a ten minute musical workout everyday, with challenges that get progressively more difficult.
The interface is very simple. There are three big arrows, and in each challenge, a sequence of notes is played, and the arrows flash in time with the music. You then have to reproduce what you heard and saw, and are scored for pattern and rhythm accuracy. It's really easy to play, tapping out the rhythm and patterns on the screen. The challenges do get hard too, so you will need to improve your skills to beat the later courses.
Mozart Brain is designed for people with no musical training, and it's worth noting that the musically trained might find some of the patterns unintuitive, as the patterns don't necessarily coincide with notes going up and down! It's also a bit boring to watch, as the background never changes, the music is never really interesting.
It might not really improve your mental skills, but Mozart Brain is still a fun and challenging game when played in short bursts.

Using music for brain warm up..
I bought the full version of this game after trying the lite version. There are 10 courses in the full version. I am in course B now, which is a lot harder and longer than the course A, which is also in the lite version. I found out through "cheating" that all the tunes are from classical music genre, ballet, opera, chorus, etc. I saw a "swan lake" and "mother goose". I was told by their support staff that they don't publicize the tunes in the full version on purpose. By choice, I go to work by subway here in Hollywood. I find the game to be very effective to get myself mentally ready and sharp for work in my morning ride. The game is a little bit like Simon Says, although, you are actually playing/repeating real music tunes by memory using the very basic music theory taught in elementary school, which is really cool for people like me who don't know much about music. The guitar and vibraphone in the full version sounds really beautiful and peaceful through headphone, but quite small through my iPod speakers, especially with the train noise. When you pass each level, there is also a link to iTunes for listening to the same melodies in recorded tracks. I found the music to be quite beautiful, some how, after I have just "performed" it by memory myself. Pros:
Fun way to prepare mentally for work
Easy learning curve
Get some music education
Nice instrument sounds through headphones Cons:
It is more like an exercise than a game
Instrument sounds are too small through speakers
